000 TTAA00 KSAT 062215 FFWSAT TXC123-177-285-070115- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 413 PM CST TUE JAN 6 1998 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 715 PM CST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...DE WITT COUNTY...GONZALES COUNTY...LAVACA COUNTY AT 410 PM CST DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED NUMEROUS STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WITH RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR EXTENDING FROM GOLIAD NORTHEAST THROUGH CUERO...GONZALES...AND HALETTSVILLE. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH AND WILL EFFECT THE WARNED COUNTIES FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS. FLOODING WILL OCCUR ESPECIALLY IN LOW LYING AREAS. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS AND OTHER PEOPLE IN RECREATION AREAS ALONG CREEKS...STREAMS...AND RIVERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD MOVE TO HIGH GROUND IMMEDIATELY. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
