000 TTAA00 KMEM 051441 FFWMEM MSC143-051840- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEMPHIS TN 840 AM CST WED MAR 5 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEMPHIS TN HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1240 PM CST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTHWESTERN MISSISSIPPI ...TUNICA COUNTY THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI THIS MORNING. DOPPLER RADAR SHOWS THAT SOME OF THE STORMS ARE PRODUCING UP TO ONE AND A HALF INCHES PER HOUR...AND THIS HEAVY RAIN FALLING ON ALREADY SATURATED GROUND WILL PRODUCE LOCALIZED FLOODING. RAIN WILL TAPER OFF BY 1030 AM...BUT HIGH WATER WILL LIKELY LINGER FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AFTER THAT. .DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
