000 TTAA00 KSAT 200911 RRA FFWSAT TXC171-201315- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 307 AM CST THU FEB 20 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 715 AM CST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...GILLESPIE COUNTY AT 307 AM WEATHER RADAR INDICATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN MOVING ACROSS WESTERN PORTIONS OF GILLESPIE COUNTY. BANDS OF HEAVY RAIN EXTEND WELL SOUTHWARD AND WILL CONTINUE TO STREAM ACROSS THE COUNTY. RAINFALL RATES OF NEAR ONE INCH PER HOUR ARE ESTIMATED BY DOPPLER RADAR. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT TO ESCAPE RISING WATER DURING THREATENING RAINS.
