141 WUUS1 KCAE 100004 SVRCAE SCC055-110100- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC 804 PM EDT THU JUL 10 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN COLUMBIA HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 900 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH CAROLINA ...WESTERN KERSHAW COUNTY AT 800 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 5 MILES WEST OF ELGIN MOVING NORTHEAST AT 15 MPH. THIS STORM WILL PASS TO THE NORTHWEST OF DOWNTOWN ELGIN. THIS STORM HAS A HISTORY OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN RICHLAND COUNTY. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
