THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING       EFFECTIVE UNTIL  930 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS
 
   ...DOUGLAS COUNTY...SHAWNEE COUNTY
 
IN NORTHEAST KANSAS
 
   ...SOUTHERN JEFFERSON COUNTY
 
AT 628 AM CDT...RADAR SHOWED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM 25
MILES WEST OF TOPEKA EAST ACROSS TOPEKA TO LAWRENCE. THESE STORMS WERE
PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR.
 
THE STORMS WERE MOVING TO THE EAST AT 25 MILES AN HOUR AND WILL CONTINUE
TO TRAIN OVER AREAS THAT RECEIVED VERY HEAVY RAINS YESTERDAY AND
OVERNIGHT.
 
EARLY MORNING COMMUTERS IN THE TOPEKA AND LAWRENCE AREAS SHOULD EXPECT
TO ENCOUNTER FLOODED ROADS THROUGH AT LEAST 9 AM CDT.
 
DONT DRIVE ACROSS FLOODED ROADS!  MOST FLASH FPLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN
VEHICLES.
 
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF FLOOD WATERS THREATEN!

   KANSAS THROUGH MID AFTERNOON...

THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN KANSAS
THROUGH MID AFTERNOON. SOME OF THE STORMS WILL LIKELY BE SEVERE
AND PRODUCE HEAVY RAINS AS WELL.

THE AREA M.OST LIKELY TO SEE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IS GENERALLY
EAST OF A LINE FROM PHILLIPSBURG TO WAKEENEY TO NESS CITY TO
GREENSBURG TO MEDICINE LODGE.

LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS AND EVEN TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE.
