000 TTAA00 KNYC 082003 FFWNYC NYC059-082100- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 402 PM EDT SUN SEP 8 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 500 PM EDT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK ...NASSAU COUNTY THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINS AND GUSTY WINDS WILL MOVE OVER THE AREA BY 415 PM. THESE STORMS WILL PRODUCE EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN WHICH COULD CAUSE LOCALIZED STREET AND HIGHWAY FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT INH RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
