000 TTAA00 KNYC 081945 FFWNYC NYC005-081-082030- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 343 PM EDT SUN SEP 8 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 430 PM EDT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK ...BRONX COUNTY...QUEENS COUNTY DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN WAS MOVING INTO THE WESTERN SECTIONS OF THE BRONX AND QUEENS. THIS STORM ALSO HAS A HISTORY OF PRODUCING STRONG GUSTY WINDS...FLOODING OF ROADS AND POSSIBLE SMALL HAIL. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OC,CUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
