THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 900 AM EDT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE
FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK
 
   ...ORANGE COUNTY
 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR HAS ESTIMATED THAT AS MUCH AS
SEVEN INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE
COUNTY SINCE THURSDAY AFTERNOON. RADAR CONTINUES TO SHOW MODERATE TO
HEAVY RAIN MOVING NORTH UP THE DELAWARE RIVER VALLEY...THUS MORE
FLOODING IS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT. 

THIS RAIN WILL CAUSE THE ALREADY SATURATED GROUND TO RUN OFF AND
FLOOD STREETS...LOW LYING AREAS AND POSSIBLY SMALL STREAMS. THE
CENTRAL PORTION OF THE COUNTY NEAR GOSHEN AND MIDDLETOWN ARE MOST
LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE MORE FLOODING...BUT OTHER AREAS INCLUDING
NEWBURGH WILL LIKELY EXPERIENCE SOME FLOODING.

THE AREA OF RAIN REACHES SOUTHEAST DOWN INTO THE WASHINGTON DC AREA.
RAIN WILL CONTINUE INTO THE MORNING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT
QUICKLY AND MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO NOT
STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS A ROAD THAT IS FLOODED. WATERS ARE OFTEN MUCH
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR.
