000 TTAA00 KSDF 151958 FFWSDF KYC011-165-173-160000- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOUISVILLE KY 355 PM EDT WED MAY 15 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 800 PM EDT FOR PERSONS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN EAST CENTRAL KENTUCKY ...BATH COUNTY...MENIFEE COUNTY...MONTGOMERY COUNTY AT 355 PM EDT...NWS DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO INDICATE NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS MOVING OVER EAST CENTRAL KENTUCKY. DOPPLER RADAR HAS ESTIMATED THAT BETWEEN ONE AND THREE INCHES OF RAINFALL HAVE ALREADY FALLEN OVER THESE COUNTIES...WITH ADDITIONAL RAINFALL EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. WATER WAS REPORTED OVER ONE ROADWAY ALONG THE BATH AND MENIFEE COUNTY LINE AT 350 PM EDT...AND CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY BECOME WORSE. SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL LIKELY RISE OUT OF THEIR BANKS AND DRAINAGE DITCHES AND CULVERTS WILL OVERFLOW. THE TERRAIN IN THESE COUNTIES WILL ALSO COMPOUND THE FLOODING PROBLEMS. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADLWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
