NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1055 AM CDT SAT JUN 15 1996

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH EARLY EVENING
FOR ALL OF NORTH TEXAS. THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ABILENE...
SHERMAN...PARIS...DALLAS-FORT WORTH METROPLEX...WACO.

THE ATMOSPHERE ACROSS NORTH TEXAS CONTINUES TO BE VERY MOIST AND
UNSTABLE. AFTERNOON HEATING COMBINED WITH SURFACE BOUNDARIES FROM
PREVIOUS THUNDERSTORMS WILL ALLOW SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP.
A FEW OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP MAY REACH SEVERE LIMITS.
THE MID LEVEL WINDS REMAIN WEAK...SO THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SLOW
MOVING WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR VERY HEAVY RAINFALL.

THE MAIN THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE
WINDS. DUE TO THE WEAK WIND FIELD...TORNADOES ARE UNLIKELY THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS AND STORM SPOnTTER GROUPS SHOULD
MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND WEATHER CONDITIONS AND BE READY FOR
POSSIBLE ACTIVATION THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING. LISTEN TO
NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR FURTHER UPDATES.
