000 TTAA00 KATL 161730 SVRATL GAC123-213-161815- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA 131 PM EDT MON SEP 16 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 215 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA ...GILMER COUNTY...SOUTHERN MURRAY COUNTY AT 128 PM EDT RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OVER MURRAY COUNTY ABOUT 5 MILES WEST OF ELLIJAY. THE STORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH. HAIL WAS INDICATED IN THIS STORM. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAI0N. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.

THE AIRMASS OVER GEORGIA IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SPREADING EASTWARD FROM ALABAMA. THE THREAT OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVER WESTERN TENNESSEE AND MISSISSIPPI APPROACHES THE STATE.
