THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GAYLORD HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1215 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN  MICHIGAN
 
   ...GLADWIN COUNTY
 
AT 810 AM...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS AND SHERIFFS PERSONNEL
REPORTED SEVERAL AREAS OF FLOODING ACROSS GLADWIN COUNTY. ONE AREA OF
FLOODING WAS REPORTED ON THE TITTABAWASSEE RIVER DOWNSTREAM FROM THE
SECORD DAM TO THE COMMUNITY OF ALBRIGHT SHORES DOWNSTREAM FROM THE
SMALLWOOD DAM. A SECOND AREA OF FLOODING WAS BEING REPORTED ALONG THE
SUGAR RIVER NEAR THE COMMUNITY OF SUGAR RAPIDS. A THIRD AREA OF FLOODING
WAS OCCURRING ALONG THE CEDAR RIVER. THE FLOODING ALONG THE CEDAR RIVER
HAD WASHED OUT A PORTION OF M 18 WEST OF THE COMMUNITY OF OBERLIN.
 
EMERGENCY PERSONNEL REPORTED THAT WATERS WERE CONTINUING TO RISE IN ALL
OF THESE AREAS AND THAT SOME EVACUATIONS WERE IN PROGRESS.
 
SINCE YESTERDAY MORNING 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAD BEEN REPORTED ACROSS
GLADWIN COUNTY. AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS
THE COUNTY TODAY WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS.
 
ALL RESIDENTS OF GLADWIN COUNTY SHOULD BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY RISING WATERS
TODAY.
 
FLOOD-PRONE AREAS CAN FILL WITH DEADLY RUSHING WATER IN MINUTES.
VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
