THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY NY HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN EASTERN NEW YORK

   ...ALBANY AND SCHOHARIE COUNTIES

AT 1205 PM...DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR SHOWED 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAD
FALLEN ACROSS SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF ALBANY AND EXTREME EASTERN SCHOHARIE
COUNTY THIS MORNING.  4 INCHES OF RAIN IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD WILL PRODUCE
FLOODING.  ADDITIONAL DOWNPOURS WILL SWEEP NORTH ACROSS
ALBANY COUNTY DURING THE AFTERNOON...BRINGING LOCAL RAINFALL TOTALS
INTO THE 4 TO 5 INCH RANGE.

TROPICAL SYSTEMS SUCH AS "BERTHA" CAN DROP VERY HEAVY RAINFALL IN A
SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.  PEOPLE IN LOW LYING AREAS AND NEAR SMALL RIVERS
AND STREAMS SHOULD MONITOR THE SITUATION CLOSELY AND BE PREPARED TO
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

DO NOT DRI(VE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
