THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY NY  HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  700 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN EAST NEW YORK
 
   ...SOUTHERN ALBANY COUNTY
 
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ENDED FOR THE NIGHT ACROSS MUCH OF ALBANY
COUNTY...BUT THE HANNACROIS CREEK REMAINS WELL ABOVE IT/S BANKS AND AS A
RESULT FLOODING CONTINUES ALONG ROUTE 143 IN SOUTHERN ALBANY COUNTY. THE
FLOODING RESULTED FROM 5 TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN WHICH FELL IN THE RAVENA
AND COEYMANS AREA IN SOUTHERN ALBANY COUNTY SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING. THE HANNACROIS CREEK IS EXPECTED TO RECEDE OVER THE NEXT
SEVERAL HOURS AND SHOULD BE BACK WITHIN IT/S BANKS BY 700 AM.
 
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
