THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  830 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS
 
   ...SHAWNEE COUNTY...EASTERN WABAUNSEE COUNTY
 
AT 725AM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLAR RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM 15 MILES SOUTHWEST OF TOPEKA NEAR DOVER. THE SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM IS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH AND SHOULD BE NEAR TOPEKA BY
8AM.
 
HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER AND HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED WITH THIS
THUNDERSTORM.  AT 725AM 1 INCH HAIL WAS REPORTED AT DOVER.
 
 
 
THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM.  IF YOU ARE IN ITS PATH YOU SHOULD
PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...LARGE HAIL...AND
DEADLY LIGHTNING.  PEOPLE OUTSIDE SHOULD MOVE TO A SHELTER...
PREFERABLY INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING BUT STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.
 
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE...SEEK SHELTER FROM DANGEROUS WEATHER
IN A STRONG BUILDING.  DAMAGING WIND...LARGE HAIL...VERY HEAVY
RAIN... AND DEADLY LIGHTNING ARE ALL POSSIBLE IN SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS. STAY INSIDE AWAY FROM WINDOWS UNTIL THE STORM HAS
PASSED.
