THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A 
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR HIGH WINDS 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL  530 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...

IN NORTHWEST UTAH

   ...EASTERN BOX ELDER COUNTY...NORTHEASTERN TOOELE COUNTY

THE UTAH TEST RANGE NEAR LAKESIDE ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE GREAT SALT
LAKE REPORTS WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH.  THESE WINDS ARE BEING GENERATED
BY A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS THAT STRETCHES ACROSS NORTHWEST UTAH. 

THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING EASTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH. 

PERSONS PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SUCH AS PICNICS OR CAMPING SHOULD
BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY DETERIORATING WEATHER CONDITIONS INCLUDING STRONG
WINDS...HEAVY SHOWERS...AND HAIL.

IF CAUGHT OUTSIDE...SEEK SHELTER FROM THE WEATHER IN A STRONG

        ...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS HAVE FORMED OVER UTAH...

LIGHTNING DETECTION EQUIPMENT CONFIRMS THAT SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER UTAH. MUCH OF THE ACTIVITY AT 2 PM
WAS NEAR OR OVER THE MOUNTAINS. HOWEVER ACTIVITY WILL CONTINUE TO
DEVELOP DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS AND SPREAD INTO SOME
VALLEY LOCATIONS.

THESE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY
WINDS...SMALL HAIL...BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL AND FREQUENT CLOUD-TO-
GROUND LIGHTNING.  PERSONS PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THROUGH
THIS EVENING NEED TO BE AWARE OF THESE HAZARDS AND PLAN
ACCORDINGLY.

RESIDENTS AND TRAVELERS THROUGH UTAH SHOULD BE ALERT FOR
THUNDERSTORMS AND TAKE COVER WHEN THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.
STRONG THUNDERSTORM WINDS WILL BE A PROBLEM TO BOATERS ON UTAH'S
