SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1030 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL UTAH
 
   ...DAVIS COUNTY...WEBER COUNTY
 
VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS NEAR THE UTAH/IDAHO BORDER ARE CAUSING VERY
STRONG WINDS OVER NORTH CENTRAL UTAH. THE WINDS ARE ESPECIALLY STRONG
NEAR THE MOUTHS OF CANYONS. WINDS TO NEAR 60 MPH HAVE BEEN REPORTED
NEAR CENTERVILLE.
 
WINDS TO NEAR 60 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED IN WEBER AND DAVIS COUNTIES UNTIL
ABOUT 1030 PM...ESPECIALLY NEAR MOUTHS OF CANYONS.
 
PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO SECURE ANY LOOSE MATERIALS WHICH COULD

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
545 PM MDT THU MAY 7 1992

       ...THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING OVER UTAH...

THUNDERSTORMS ARE CONTINUING TO DEVELOP OVER UTAH LATE THIS
AFTERNOON.  THE MAIN ACTIVITY AT 4 PM WAS OVER NORTH CENTRAL AND
EXTREME NORTHWEST UTAH.  THUNDERSTORMS IN THESE AREAS HAD TOPS
BETWEEN 40,000 AND 45,000 FEET.

GUSTY WINDS HAVE BEEN THE MAIN PRODUCT OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS SOFAR.
THE STRONGEST GUSTS REPORTED HAVE BEEN 55 MPH AT PROVO-BYU AND 41 MPH
AT THE SALT LAKE AIRPORT.  RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN SMALL WITH ALTA
REPORTING THE MOST AT .13 INCHES THIS AFTERNOON.  SMALL HAIL WAS ALSO
REPORTED AT ALTA.  LIGHTNING HAS BEEN FREQUENT AND COVERS MUCH OF THE
STATE.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO BE ACTIVE UNTIL DARK
ESPECIALLY IN NORTHERN UTAH...AND THEN SLOWLY DECREASE WITH MOST
ACTIVITY ENDING AROUND MIDNIGHT.  THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE
TO CAUSE STRONG GUSTY WINDS WITH SOME GUSTS TO NEAR 50 MPH...BRIEF
HEAVY RAINFALL...FREQUENT LIGHTNING...AND SOME SMALL HAIL.

RESIDENTS AND TRAVELERS THROUGH UTAH SHOULD BE ALERT FOR
THUNDERSTORMS AND TAKE COVER WHEN THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.
STRONG THUNDERSTORM WINDS WILL BE A PROBLEM TO BOATERS ON UTAH'S
LAKES AND THOSE DRIVING HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.

LIGHTNING CAN KILL.  DO NOT SEEK SHELTER BENEATH ISOLATED TREES OR
NEAR TELEPHONE POLES...RATHER SEEK SHELTER INDOORS OR IN AN
AUTOMOBILE.
