FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA
 
   ...LE FLORE COUNTY
 
HEAVY RAINS HAVE CONTINUED OVER PARTS OF EAST CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST
OKLAHOMA THIS AFTERNOON. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF FROM 2.OO TO 4.00 INCHES
HAVE OCCURRED OVER THE AREA. SEVERAL ROADS ARE NOW UNDER WATER IN
LEFLORE COUNTY...AND MOSTS CREEKS AND RIVERS ARE BANKFULL..ADDITIONAL
HEAVY RAINS ARE LIKELY TONIGHT...THIS FLOOD SITUATION WILL BECOME
WORSE. RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED COUNTY SHOULD BEGIN PREPARATIONS NOW
TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF THEY LIVE IN A FLOOD PRONE AREA.
 
 
 
 
 
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER ~COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
