THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A URBAN AND SMALL 
STREAM FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1100 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN 
THE FOLLOWING COUNTY

   IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
      WILKES

AT 745 PM WEATHER RADAR CONTINUED TO SHOW MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINS
OVER WESTERN WILKES COUNTY. THE CIVIL PREPAREDNESS OFFICE IN NORTH
WILKESBORO REPORTED THAT THE ELK CREEK WAS OUT OF ITS BANKS. THE
SHERIFF DEPARTMENT REPORTED STREET FLOODING IN NORTH WILKESBORO
AND BROWNS FORD ROAD WAS FLOODED.

NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
ESCAPE RISING WATER BY MOVING TO HIGHER GROUND.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOOD WATERS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...
ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

 IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES..GO TO A SAFE PLACE IMMEDIATELY
 AND TAKE SHELTER.  ASK YOU LOCAL SHERIFF OR POLICE TO RELAY YOUR
 SEVERE WEATHER REPORT TO THE LOCAL NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE.
