THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 845 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY

   IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
      ALLEGHANY

AT 440 PM EDT THE SHERIFF DEPARTMENT IN SPARTA REPORTED THAT THE
CREEK LEVELS ARE RISING AND ONE LOW WATER BRIDGE IS UNDER WATER
AT THE PINEY FORK CREEK OFF OF STATE ROUTE 113 IN SOUTHWEST
ALLEGHANY COUNTY. RADAR SHOWS MORE HEAVY RAIN EXTENDING SOUTH
TO JUST WEST OF HICKORY. THIS RAIN IS MOVING NORTH AND WILL CAUSE
ADDITIONAL FLOODING TONIGHT. PEOPLE IN RIVER CAMP USA SHOULD MOVE
TO HIGHER GROUND NOW.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
PEOPLE IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO PROTECT
LIFE AND PROPERTY.

CAMPERS SHOULD AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS WHEN HEAVY
RAINS THREATEN.  DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER
BEGINS TO RISE.

 IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES..GO TO A SAFE PLACE IMMEDIATELY
 AND TAKE SHELTER.  ASK YOU LOCAL SHERIFF OR POLICE TO RELAY YOUR
 SEVERE WEATHER REPORT TO THE LOCAL NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE.
