THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 800 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY

   IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
      WESTERN WILKES

AT 345 PM EDT RADAR SHOWS HEAVY RAIN OVER WESTERN WILKES COUNTY
WHICH EXTENDS SOUTH TO JUST WEST OF HICKORY. A REPORT FROM THE
WILKES COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE INDICATES THAT THERE ARE BRIDGES
NOW UNDER WATER AT THE STONY FORK CREEK ALONG STATE ROUTE 1170.
THIS IS NEAR THE WATAUGA COUNTY LINE. THE RAIN IS MOVING NORTH
AT ABOUT 15 TO 20 MPH.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
PEOPLE IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO PROTECT
LIFE AND PROPERTY.

NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
ESCAPE RISING WATER BY MOVINGW TO HIGHER GROUND.
