FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN CENTRAL NEW YORK
 
   ...CHEMUNG COUNTY...SCHUYLER COUNTY...STEUBEN COUNTY...TIOGA COUNTY
   ...TOMPKINS COUNTY...AND BROOME COUNTY...
 
HEAVY RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL OVER MUCH OF THE AREA. RAINFALL AMOUNTS
AS MEASURED FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING RANGE FROM 2.50 INCHES AND 2.4
INCHES AT ELMIRA TO 1.90 INCHES IN NEWARK VALLEY HAVE CAUSED SMALL
STREAMS TO SWELL TO BANKFULL.
 
MANY MAIN ROADS AND SECONDARY ROADS THROUGHOUT THE WARNED AREA HAVE
WATER OVER THEM.  AREAS PARTICULARLY HARD HIT ARE IN SOUTHEASTERN
STUEBEN COUNTY....WHERE SOME STREAMS ARE NEAR CREST...AND IN
WELLSBURG IN CHEMUNG COUNTY.  HEAVY RAIN HAS ALSO FLOODED ROADS ACROSS
THE CITY OF ITHACA.
 
RAIN...SOME OF IT ON THE HEAVY SIDE...WILL CONTINUE THE NEXT SEVERAL
HOURS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHIC)LES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
