- Cold in Virginia, February 3 to 6, 1996Bitterly cold air overspread southwest,west-central and south-central Virginia on the 3rd and continued until the 6th. Several daily low temperature records were established.
- Cold in Virginia, April 7, 2007Icy road conditions contributed to a one vehicle accident.
- Cold in Virginia, March 8 to 12, 1996Record breaking cold temperatures from the 8th through the 12th severely damaged the peach and berry crops, especially east of the mountains.

- Extreme Cold and Cold in Virginia, January 20 to 23, 2025Arctic air moved in behind a departing low pressure system on January 20. This Arctic air remained overhead as high pressure dominated through January 23.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Virginia, February 1 to 2, 2026A rather anomalous Arctic Outbreak continued into the first couple days of February. The remarkable aspect of this outbreak was the duration, as it extends well back into January. For the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Highlands, minimum wind chills of -20 to -30F were observed.

For the Shenandoah Valley and portions of Northern Virginia, minimum wind chills of -5 to -20F were observed.

- Cold in Virginia, December 23 to 24, 2022A cold northwest wind behind an arctic cold front caused wind chills to drop to around -5 near the Tidal Potomac to -20 degrees in the Potomac Highlands the day of the 23rd through the late morning/early afternoon of the 24th.
- Cold in Virginia, December 7, 2002Long standing low temperature records were set on the morning of the 7th as a fresh snow pack, calm winds, and clear skies allowed temperatures to plummet around 20 to 30 degrees below normal overnight.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Virginia, January 30 to 31, 2019A low pressure system moved into southeastern Canada on January 30th, with a cold front crossing through the Mid-Atlantic states. Cold temperatures and strong northwest winds followed behind the front on the night of the 30th and into the morning of the 31st.
- Cold in Virginia, February 4 to 5, 1996A fresh snow cover combined with an arctic outbreak to droptemperatures well below zero. The coldest readings were atdawn on the 5th. The coldest valleys were around minus 20.For example, Clintwood was minus 23 and Birchleaf was minus19.
- Cold in Virginia, January 28 to 30, 2014Colder air started to filter in on Monday the 27th. Yet, a storm across the southeastern states brushed the area with an inch or less of snow during the late day and evening on the 28th. In its wake, drier and colder air moved south for dawn on Wednesday the 29th.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Virginia, January 21, 2019A low pressure system moved up the eastern seaboard of the United States on January 20th, with cold temperatures and strong northwest winds funneling behind the system from the night of the 20th into the morning of the 21st.
- Cold in Virginia, January 7, 2014A surge of arctic air arrived into the mid-Atlantic during the early morning hours of January 6th. Temperatures continued to fall over the next 24 hours, eventually bottoming out below zero nearly everywhere west of the Blue Ridge.
- Cold in Virginia, January 1 to 2, 2018Gusty winds and bitterly cold temperatures led to dangerously low wind chills.
- Cold in Virginia, December 14 to 15, 2025An Arctic air mass settled in behind a departing system. Air temps in the single digits to teens coupled with wind gusts to 30-45 mph resulted in wind chill values in the negative teens.
