A fresh snow cover combined with an arctic outbreak to droptemperatures well below zero. The coldest readings were atdawn on the 5th. The coldest valleys were around minus 20.For example, Clintwood was minus 23 and Birchleaf was minus19. Buchanan County averaged 10 to 20 below zero.
