- Flooding and Cold in Missouri, January 12 to 13, 2013A cold front moved south through the region, triggering showers and a few thunderstorms over southern Missouri. Between one and three inches of rain fell over an extended amount of time onto partially frozen ground causing runoff.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Missouri, December 22 to 24, 2022A storm system initially brought one to two hours of freezing drizzle during the early morning hours of December 22nd before precipitation changed over to light snow.
- Cold in Missouri, January 12, 2018On the morning of January 12, 2018 temperatures across Kansas City dropped to the single digits, but light northwest winds contributed to wind chill values across the city dropping to 11 degrees below zero. As a result of the cold at least one homeless person died.

- Cold in Missouri, January 10 to 13, 1997Very cold arctic air settled over Northwest and West Central Missouri from the 10th through the 13th. Daytime temperatures through the period only reached the single digits which is almost 30 degrees below normal. Nightime low temperatures were in the single digits below zero.
- Cold in Missouri, January 5 to 6, 2014A polar plunge of arctic air slammed into Kansas, bringing wind chill values to around 30 degrees below zero for the morning of January 6.
- Cold in Missouri, January 20 to 21, 2025An anomalously cold airmass moved into the Ozarks on January 20th onto the 21st bringing low temperatures around from zero to -5 degree highs in the teens to lower 20s with wind chills in -5 to -15 degree range for some locations.
- Cold in Missouri, January 1 to 12, 2010The first twelve days of January 2010 was one of the coldest outbreaks in many years. For some locations, it was the first time the temperature dropped below zero in about 10 years. For St. Louis, MO, January 1 - 12 was the 7th coldest on record for that time period.
- Cold in Missouri, January 6 to 7, 2014The winter storm that brought heavy snow to much of the area followed that up with the coldest temperatures in 20 years. Some of the temperatures include Rosebud -26, Washington -21, Farmington -15, Hannibal -14, Jefferson City -14, Canton -13, |St.
- Cold in Missouri, January 13 to 16, 2024A very cold, Arctic air mass moved into the region in the middle of January. The combination of strong winds and very cold temperatures dropped wind chill values to dangerous levels.
- Cold in Missouri, February 2 to 5, 1996The worst cold outbreak of the 1995-96 winter season overburdened some heating systems. High temperatures barely reached 10 degrees during the worst part of the cold snap, and lows fell to around 5 below zero.
- Cold in Missouri, January 10 to 11, 1997Arctic air invaded the region in the wake of a departing snowstorm. Wind chill advisories were issued for wind chills as low as 30 below zero.
- Cold in Missouri, January 23, 2003Wind chills fell to around minus 10 across southeast Missouri during the morning. This cold snap was just one of many cases of harsh winter weather during January. After the relatively mild winters of the past several years, the bitter mid-winter cold came as a shock to many.
- Cold in Missouri, December 23 to 25, 2004Bitterly cold temperatures arrived in the wake of a paralyzing snowstorm. The low temperature on Christmas morning was 10 below zero at the Cape Girardeau airport, located south of the city along the Scott/Cape Girardeau County line.
- Cold in Missouri, January 5 to 7, 2014Dangerously cold wind chills were observed from late on the night of the 5th through the night of the 6th. Wind chills during this entire period were colder than 10 below zero from the Cape Girardeau area north and west.
- Cold in Missouri, February 19, 2015Record-breaking cold and brisk winds combined to produce dangerously low wind chills. Bitterly cold wind chills from 10 to 20 below zero were observed across southeast Missouri. Southeast Missouri had not seen a cold stretch of this magnitude this late in the season since 1960.
- Cold in Missouri, January 1, 2018Arctic high pressure over the central Plains brought bitterly cold temperatures and gusty west winds to start the new year. Wind chill indices from minus 10 to minus 17 were observed across southeast Missouri during the early and mid-morning hours of the New Year's Day holiday.
- Cold in Missouri, February 16, 2021In the wake of the departing Presidents Day winter storm, Arctic air surged south on gusty north winds. Dangerously low wind chills were observed during the early and mid morning hours.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Missouri, February 19 to 20, 2025A Siberian airmass and an area of high pressure allowed for an extended period of sub-freezing temperatures that began on the 19th in the aftermath of a major snowstorm.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Missouri, January 25 to 27, 2026A cold air mass with sub-freezing temperatures that originated from Siberia was reinforced by a major winter storm that brought a snowpack across portions of southeast Missouri on the 25th.
- Cold in Missouri, January 23 to 25, 2026A strong cold front moved across southeast Missouri, followed by a ridge of high pressure that originated from Siberia, bringing prolonged sub-freezing temperatures beginning on the 23rd.
- Cold in Missouri, February 14, 2021Arctic high pressure centered over the northern Plains brought dangerously low wind chills during the early and mid morning hours. Gusty north winds were accompanied by actual temperatures in the single digits and teens.
- Cold in Missouri, January 16, 2018In most of southeast Missouri except the Mississippi River delta counties of Scott, New Madrid, and Mississippi, wind chills fell to between minus 10 and minus 15 degrees during the morning hours.
- Cold in Missouri, January 14, 2024An Arctic front plunged across the Quad State region, bringing strong cold advection and breezy winds on the 14th, dropping wind chill values to -5 to -20 across Southeast Missouri, while morning low temperatures fell to 0 to 10 degrees.
- Cold in Missouri, January 16, 2024With surface low pressure well to the southeast and continued northwesterly flow of Arctic air, clear skies and fresh snow cover from the 1-3'' of snow that fell the 14th-15th in southern portions of SEMO allowed for frigid temperatures and wind chill values.
