- Winter Storm in Kentucky, January 24 to 25, 2026A major winter storm produced heavy snow and sleet across portions of northern and central Kentucky January 24-26, 2026. In addition, portions of central and eastern Kentucky saw heavy ice accumulation, which resulted in thousands of power outages.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, January 27 to 28, 2009A prolonged ice and snow storm began around just after midnight Tuesday January 27 and continued through 11 am Wednesday January 28.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, March 4 to 5, 2015A major winter storm dumped 6 to 18 inches of snow across western Kentucky. The Kentucky governor declared a state of emergency for the second time in less than a month. Snowfall amounts were lowest in the Henderson and Owensboro areas, where 6 to 8 inches was reported.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Kentucky, December 22 to 24, 2022A powerful cold front swept through the region, with wind chills dropping to 20 to 30 below zero. These were the coldest wind chills observed in over 25 years across the region. Paducah, KY dropped down to a -21 wind chill, which was the coldest since February 3, 1996.
- Winter Storm and Flooding in Kentucky, March 1 to 19, 2015An intense storm system brought flooding rains to central Kentucky, followed quickly by exceptionally heavy snow. This amount of rain, followed by such heavy snow, is practically unprecedented.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, February 10 to 11, 2021A wintry mix of precipitation impacted the region resulting in icy roads, numerous accidents, road closures, and scattered power outages. About 3,000 customers in the Owensboro area were without power.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Kentucky, January 24 to 25, 2026A major winter storm that brought Paducah's 7th largest snowstorm on record impacted western Kentucky on the 24th with light to moderate snow developing during the morning hours.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Kentucky, February 14 to 16, 2021A significant winter storm with heavy mixed precipitation impacted central Kentucky from late on Valentine's Day through the early morning hours of February 16, 2021. The majority of the precipitation occurred on February 15, 2021.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, January 12, 2018An Arctic cold front moved southeast across western Kentucky on the night of the 11th. Rain changed to a brief period of freezing rain, then to sleet during the overnight hours. The sleet changed to snow on the 12th as the Arctic air flooded in.
- Winter Storm and Flood in Kentucky, February 20 to 25, 2015A winter storm brought hazardous conditions to western Kentucky. South of the Henderson/Owensboro area, the precipitation type was primarily heavy sleet and snow at the beginning of the storm, then freezing rain became the primary precipitation type.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Kentucky, February 10 to 11, 2021An arctic airmass was centered over the northern Plains, and Kentucky and southern Indiana were positioned directly along a volatile boundary between the arctic air mass and a warm and moist tropical airmass associated with the Gulf of Mexico.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, January 5 to 6, 2025A major winter storm impacted central Kentucky on January 5-6, 2025. When all was said and done, the storm had dropped a swath of heavy snow and sleet ranging between 6 and 12 inches across northern Kentucky.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Kentucky, November 26 to 28, 2013A rare November winter storm moved through the coal fields on November 26 and 27. Rain chanced to snow during the evening of November 26th and the snow continued through the day on the 27th before tapering off during the evening.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, January 26, 2011On January 25th, a strong low pressure system developed along the Gulf coast and then tracked northeast up the east coast. The temperatures across eastern Kentucky were slightly too warm so the precipitation was rain before a change over to snow.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, February 16 to 17, 2015The residents of eastern Kentucky experienced one of the most significant winter storms in recent memory on February 16. The snow first began falling in our far western counties between 3:00 and 3:30 am on February 16, 2015.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 20, 2011An upper level disturbance moved east across the Plains to the Mississippi Valley. The associated surface low pressure system gradually took shape over eastern Kentucky. Widespread snowfall from 2 to 4 inches blanketed most of western Kentucky.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, February 14 to 15, 2021A strong storm system in the upper levels of the atmosphere moved east-northeast across the lower and mid Mississippi Valley on President's Day. A round of light snow the night before President's Day produced an inch or two in many locations.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 2 to 3, 2014Broad southwesterly mid-level flow brought a disturbance that crossed the Tennessee Valley during the evening of the 2nd of February. Earlier on the 2nd, a cold front had moved into Tennessee and temperatures across central Kentucky had fallen into the mid 30s.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, February 11 to 12, 2008Low pressure developed over the southern Plains, spreading widespread heavy precipitation across western Kentucky. At the same time, high pressure over the upper Ohio Valley produced a cold easterly wind flow. The result was a crippling ice storm.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, December 18 to 20, 2009A large and intense area of low pressure moved across the Tennessee valley and eventually up the east coast on December 18th and 19th. The initial precipitation began as a heavy wet snow on Friday afternoon December 18th.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Kentucky, December 15 to 17, 2010On December 16th, a low pressure system developed in the plains and then tracked east across the Tennessee Valley. The warm front moved just south of the forecast area. Wintry precipitation fell as freezing rain from the Tennessee border and north up to the Mountain Parkway.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, January 6 to 8, 1996The Blizzard of '96 developed near the Gulf Coast and moved up the East Coast. This massive system brought the greatest snowfall from one storm to Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport, as well as the greatest 24 hour snowfall.
- Winter Storm and Flooding in Kentucky, March 4 to 7, 2015Another major late winter storm affected the state of Kentucky from late in the day on Tuesday March 3rd through the morning of Thursday March 5th, 2015.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, December 22 to 23, 2004A record-setting winter storm dumped up to 18 inches of snow across western Kentucky, closing Interstate 24 and shutting down most businesses near the peak of the Christmas shopping season.
- Winter Storm in Kentucky, February 4 to 5, 2014One-quarter to one-half inch of ice coated trees and power lines across western Kentucky. The highest accumulations of ice were from the Murray area, northeast across Kentucky Lake, to Madisonville and Calhoun.
