- Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 3 to 6, 1998A freak winter storm dumped as much as 25 inches of snow on parts of Kentucky from the evening of February 3 to the morning of February 6.
- Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 3 to 6, 1998A major snowstorm affected eastern Kentucky from the evening of February 3 into the morning of February 6. Snowfall totals for the storm ranged from around 4 inches in valley locations near the Virginia border to as much as 2 feet in areas from Whitley City to Flemingsburg.
- Winter Storm and Flooding in Kentucky, March 1 to 19, 2015An intense storm system brought flooding rains to central Kentucky, followed quickly by exceptionally heavy snow. This amount of rain, followed by such heavy snow, is practically unprecedented.
- Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 16, 2015Arctic air invaded the Lower Ohio Valley on the 14th of February, setting the stage for heavy snow that developed during the early morning hours on the 16th. Low pressure moved across Arkansas and Tennessee from the 15th to the 16th of February.
- Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 17 to 18, 2021The third significant winter storm in a week moved into the area during the late evening hours of February 17th. What began as snow, transitioned to a wintry mix in some areas as the night progressed.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 7, 2020Following abundant rainfall across southeast Kentucky on February 6th, colder air filtered into eastern Kentucky from February 6th into the 7th. Simultaneously, another wave of precipitation moved through the region, bringing a transition to snow for much of eastern Kentucky.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, January 26, 2011On January 25th, a strong low pressure system developed along the Gulf coast and then tracked northeast up the east coast. The temperatures across eastern Kentucky were slightly too warm so the precipitation was rain before a change over to snow.
- Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, January 14 to 16, 2024Arctic air and a winter storm kicked off the 3rd week of January 2024. Arctic air seeped into eastern Kentucky on Sunday, January 14th, following the passage of a shallow arctic cold front. That front eventually stalled along the spine of the Appalachians by late in the day.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 25 to 26, 2011An upper level storm system moved from western Arkansas across Tennessee. Moisture spread northward from the system, starting as light rain or mixed rain and snow in places south and east of Paducah.

East of the surface trough, northeasterly surface winds kept cold air in place. Warmer air moving in aloft created conditions favorable for heavy snow.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 2 to 3, 2014Broad southwesterly mid-level flow brought a disturbance that crossed the Tennessee Valley during the evening of the 2nd of February. Earlier on the 2nd, a cold front had moved into Tennessee and temperatures across central Kentucky had fallen into the mid 30s.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 23 to 24, 2015Accumulating snowfall occurred across portions of eastern Kentucky from late in the evening of January 23rd through the early morning hours of January 24th. The highest snowfall totals generally occurred along and north of I-64, where up to five inches fell in Fleming County.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 5, 2017An area of light snow developed early this morning, bringing widespread accumulations of 1-3 inches across eastern Kentucky through the day. A couple of more intense bands developed during the morning hours.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, December 18 to 20, 2009A large and intense area of low pressure moved across the Tennessee valley and eventually up the east coast on December 18th and 19th. The initial precipitation began as a heavy wet snow on Friday afternoon December 18th.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, January 29 to 30, 2010A powerful area of low pressure moved across the Tennessee valley and then through the mid Atlantic region on January 29th and 30th.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 15 to 16, 2010A potent area of low pressure moved across the Bluegrass state on February 15th and 16th. The result was widespread accumulating snowfall across the whole of eastern Kentucky.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Kentucky, December 15 to 17, 2010On December 16th, a low pressure system developed in the plains and then tracked east across the Tennessee Valley. The warm front moved just south of the forecast area. Wintry precipitation fell as freezing rain from the Tennessee border and north up to the Mountain Parkway.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 19, 2012A large portion of eastern Kentucky experienced widespread accumulating snow from the early afternoon hours of February 19th into the late morning hours of February 20th. The snow was heavy and wet and came down heavy at times.
- Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 3 to 6, 1998A slow moving coastal storm and a prolong period of easterly wind aloft, gave northeast Kentucky several periods of snow and sleet. The end result was widespread snow depths of over one foot. No snow was on the ground prior to the storm.
- Flooding and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, March 4 to 7, 2015A warm front lifted north through northeast Kentucky on the 3rd with a quarter to a half inch of rain. Late afternoon and evening temperatures rose into the 50s. Winds and dew points also increased. This combination helped accelerate the melting of the leftover snow pack.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Kentucky, February 3 to 4, 2009A low pressure system moved across Eastern Kentucky on February 3rd, bringing snow showers to the area. Winds shifted to the northwest as the low moved east of the area.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Kentucky, February 17 to 18, 2021A winter storm brought heavy snow to eastern Kentucky on February 17th and 18th 2021. Storm total snowfall amounts varied from as little as an inch to as much as 6 inches in a couple of locations. Many locations around the area received 3.5 to 4 inches of snow from this storm.
- Heavy Snow in Kentucky, December 11 to 12, 2008A strong low pressure system brought heavy, wet snow to portions of Eastern Kentucky on the evening of December 11th. The snow occurred as colder air moved in behind the departing storm system. Earlier in the day, rain, and some freezing rain, fell across the area.
- Heavy Snow in Kentucky, January 6 to 7, 1996A major snow storm hit Kentucky on January 6-7, 1996. The snow began around noon est and effected all of the counties in the Louisville CWA before it stopped Sunday afternoon. The heavy snow began around 1500 est on the 6th and ended around 6 am est on the 7th.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Kentucky, January 27 to 29, 2009A major winter storm affected Eastern Kentucky beginning on January 27th. A low pressure system moved northeast from the Gulf Coast States, reaching Eastern Kentucky by the morning of the 28th.
