- Hail and Damaging Wind in Iowa, August 5 to 7, 2013A compact upper level disturbance slowly tracked from the northern Plains into southeast Iowa during the period of August 5-7, 2013. This was followed by the passage of a cold front on August 7. These synoptic features triggered several marginally severe reports in eastern Iowa.
- Tornadoes and Flood in Kansas, August 5, 2013During the late morning an outflow boundary from overnight storms in central Nebraska moved south into Northwest Kansas. By early afternoon thunderstorms had begun to develop along the boundary, following it southward. As the afternoon progressed storm coverage increased.
- Damaging Wind in Florida, August 5, 2013An isolated thunderstorm moved southeast over central Orange County and briefly became severe near Goldenrod. A microburst downed a few trees and damaged two pool screen enclosures.
- Hail in Georgia, August 5, 2013Northwest flow continued in place aloft, with a strong upper high over the Southern Plains and a deep trough over the Eastern Seaboard. A weak surface boundary remained stalled across central Georgia on the 5th, helping to trigger showers and thunderstorms.

- Hail in South Dakota, August 5, 2013A severe thunderstorm developed over the central Black Hills and tracked southeastward across Custer State Park, dropping large hail from Sylvan Lake to Center Lake to the park entrance on SD Highway 36.
- Hail in Nebraska, August 5, 2013During the evening thunderstorms moved into Southwest Nebraska from the north. The largest hail size reported was ping pong ball size near Stratton, but one location reported pea to penny sized hail up to 18 inches deep.

- Damaging Wind in North Dakota, August 5, 2013Severe thunderstorms developing over eastern Montana mostly dissipated as they moved into western North Dakota as they encountered a stronger mid level capping inversion. One storm held together and produced a severe thunderstorm wind gust in Bowman County.
- Hail in Colorado, August 5, 2013During the evening thunderstorms moved into East Central Colorado from the west ahead of an upper level disturbance. The largest hail reported was the size of a golf ball north of Yuma.

- Flash Flood and Hail in Nebraska, August 6, 2013Thunderstorms formed during the early morning hours in northeast Nebraska along a sharp instability gradient . These storms continued to move southeast into east central Nebraska around sunrise.
- Flash Flooding in South Carolina, August 6, 2013Slow moving thunderstorms produced very heavy rain over western Upstate South Carolina, triggering areas of flash flooding. One fatality resulted from a car being swept into a flooded stream.

- Hail in Colorado, August 6, 2013Thunderstorms began to develop during the early afternoon over eastern Cheyenne county and slowly move eastward. Large hail ranging from golf ball to hen egg size fell south of Arapahoe.
- Damaging Wind in Arizona, August 6, 2013Although cloud cover kept temperatures in SE Arizona several degrees cooler than normal, portions of Cochise County saw enough clearing in weak southwest flow for daytime surface heating to combine with high dewpoints to ignite storms which produced severe wind.

- Flash Flood in New Mexico, August 6, 2013A weak upper low was located over Southeast Arizona with weak south-southwest flow aloft over New Mexico.
- Hail and Damaging Winds in Oklahoma, August 6 to 8, 2013Scattered thunderstorms developed along stationary boundaries across the Oklahoma Panhandle during the evening hours of the 6th. These thunderstorms formed in a moderately unstable environment with marginal deep layer shear.

- Hail in Nebraska, August 6, 2013Isolated severe thunderstorms dropped hail across portions of northeast Nebraska. The storms developed near a cold front which moved into a moderately unstable environment. Upper level wind shear was strong enough to sustain a few updrafts to produce severe size hail.

CAPE increased to 2000 to 3000 J/kg with downdraft CAPE around 1200 J/kg. The available CAPE in the -10 to -30 C layer of the atmosphere was in the 400 to 600 J/kg range.

- Damaging Winds in Kansas, August 7, 2013During the late night/early morning a line of thunderstorms moved across northwest Kansas. Strong to severe wind gusts accompanied the thunderstorms as they moved through the area. A peak wind gust of 70 MPH was reported north of Atwood with the line of storms.

Scattered thunderstorms were observed with a few reports of damaging winds. One report of flash flooding was also received.

- Hail in New Mexico, August 7, 2013An upper level low pressure system over the Four Corners region interacted with a surface frontal boundary draped over northeastern New Mexico to produce strong to severe thunderstorms over Colfax and Union counties.
- Damaging Winds in West Virginia, August 7, 2013High pressure was located over the Atlantic and tropical moisture was drawn into the Mid Atlantic. Clearing west of the Blue Ridge increased instability and thunderstorms developed with ample moisture to produce heavy rain and gusty winds.
- Hail in Illinois, August 7, 2013A thunderstorm moved across northern Illinois dropping penny size hail.
- Hail and Damaging Winds in Pennsylvania, August 7, 2013Showers and thunderstorms developed ahead of a slow moving cold front with the help of an old outflow boundary in the afternoon on the 7th. Better shear and instability over Pennsylvania allowed for a few storms to become severe with the main threat being hail.

- Flash Flooding in West Virginia, August 7, 2013High pressure was located over the Atlantic and tropical moisture was drawn into the Mid Atlantic. Clearing west of the Blue Ridge increased instability and thunderstorms developed with ample moisture to produce heavy rain.
- Lightning Strikes in Florida, August 7, 2013Sea breeze thunderstorms produce gusty winds along coastal locations. A 40 year old woman and a house sere struck by lightning in Pinellas County in separate incidents.

- Flash Flooding in Oklahoma, August 7 to 8, 2013Discrete thunderstorms and a squall line moved across the Oklahoma Panhandle during the evening and overnight hours of the 7th. These severe storms not only had ample instability to fuel them but also a marginally above average moist atmosphere.

- Damaging Winds in Maryland, August 7, 2013High pressure was located over the Atlantic and tropical moisture was drawn into the Mid Atlantic. Clearing west of the Baltimore and Washington DC metropolitan areas increased instability and thunderstorms developed with ample moisture to produce heavy rain and gusty winds.
- Flash Flood and Damaging Wind in Wyoming, August 7, 2013A cluster of thunderstorms produced gusty winds and heavy rain across southern Weston County. Two to three inches of rain in less than an hour caused flash flooding across portions of eastern Weston County.
- Hail in South Dakota, August 7, 2013A thunderstorm was briefly severe over central Butte County and produced large hail north of the Belle Fourche Reservoir.
- Flash Flood and Damaging Winds in South Dakota, August 7, 2013A severe thunderstorm tracked southeastward across Fall River County and produced strong wind gusts and heavy rain across much of the area. Runoff caused flash flooding around Hot Springs.

- Damaging Wind in Kentucky, August 8, 2013Clusters of thunderstorms occurred south of a cold front as it moved south across the Lower Ohio Valley. Moderately strong southwest winds aloft aided storm organization.
- Hail in New York, August 8, 2013A thunderstorm that developed along convergent boundaries in Cattaraugus County produced hail up to one-and-one-quarter-inch in diameter near Freedom.
- Flash Flood in Georgia, August 8, 2013After several days of heavy rain, flash flooding developed quickly over parts of northeast Georgia as another round of heavy rain moved through.
- Flash Flood in West Virginia, August 8, 2013An unseasonably strong upper trough was deepening across the central U.S. A cold front was approaching southeast West Virginia from the west.
- Hail and Damaging Wind in Wyoming, August 8, 2013A thunderstorm formed along the east slopes of the Bighorn Mountains near Mayoworth and become severe as it dropped south-southeast from southern Johnson County into Natrona County. Strong outflow wind swept southwest across the city of Casper.
- Flash Flooding in Georgia, August 8, 2013An upper low over Canada continued to spin on the 8th, keeping the Southeast in a northwest flow regime aloft, though the flow was weakening by this point. A weak upper disturbance moved across the state during the afternoon, triggering showers and thunderstorms.
- Flash Flooding in West Virginia, August 8 to 10, 2013A humid environment existed over West Virginia with surface dew points in the lower 70s. A weak steering flow existed. Several small clusters of slow moving showers and embedded thunderstorms formed over West Virginia on the 8th, well south of a cold front across northern Ohio.
- Lightning Strike in Alabama, August 8, 2013Scattered thunderstorms produced very heavy rainfall and frequent lightning, that resulted in a home being struck by lightning in north central Alabama.
- Flash Flood and Heavy Rain in Colorado, August 8, 2013A weak surface boundary and a moist southwest flow helped focus heavy rainfall over portions of southwest Colorado. Numerous reports of heavy rainfall were received, some of which led to heavy runoff and flash flooding.

- Damaging Winds in New York, August 8, 2013Severe thunderstorms formed along a weak surface trough extending across the region with a mid level shortwave providing the lift to trigger the activity.
- Flash Flood in Ohio, August 8, 2013A small line of training thunderstorms brought torrential rainfall to southern Trumbull County on the evening of August 8th. The airmass over the region at the time was warm and humid which had led to rainfall rates over 2 inches per hour in earlier storms.
- Damaging Wind in Tennessee, August 8, 2013A boundary across the area triggered isolated thunderstorms during the evening hours. One of the storms produced a damaging wind downing numerous trees.
- Damaging Winds in Texas, August 8, 2013A cold front moved into West Central Texas resulting in scattered strong to severe thunderstorms. The main hazard associated with these storms was strong damaging winds.

- Hail in Oregon, August 8, 2013Monsoonal moisture combined with passing upper level disturbances to create thunderstorms over southern Oregon. Some of these storms became severe.
- Damaging Wind in Idaho, August 8, 2013A spotter in Bern measured a 72 mph wind gust in a thunderstorm.
