An upper low over the region produced scattered snow showers across the region but relatively limited forcing resulted in only and inch or two in the lowlands, mainly on elevated and grassy surfaces. However. the ridges of WV saw much higher snow rates due to forcing due to orographic lift.
|Clipper tracking over the Great Lakes resulted in light fluffy snow with snow-to-liquid ratios ranging from 18:1 to 21:1. Snow amounts generally ranged from 1 to 2 inches in the lowlands, but the observed amounts in the ridges West Virginia were much higher. The highest observed was 16 inches near Red Creek in Tucker County.
