...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Slight Risk of severe storms this afternoon into tonight over the
  Northern Edwards Plateau, Northwest Hill Country, Concho Valley,
  and western parts of the Big Country. Storms could produce large
  to very large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.

- Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall for West Central Texas this
  afternoon into Wednesday morning. A Flash Flood Watch is in
  Effect.

- Hit and miss storms for mid/late week with a medium chance of
  storms (30%-50%) chance of storms returning for the weekend.

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Wednesday)

Line of strong storms has already formed and is now moving into
the western Concho Valley and Northern Edwards Plateau. All
available hi-res CAMs show this line rolling across West Central
Texas through the mid evening hours. CAPEs ahead of the line are
1500+ and there is adequate shear, but so far the storms look like
they want to just line up and come across. If a storm can develop
ahead of the line or if part of the line can maximize the
availableCAPE, then the severe threat will be greatly increased.
Otherwise, heavy rainfall may end up being the bigger concern.

With rainfall over the last 7 days averaging 2-4 inches for areas
south of the Big Country (other than a San Angelo hole), this line
of storms may be problematic. CAMs are suggesting fairly
widespread 1-2 inches, with pockets of heavier totals. Given the
saturated soils, went ahead and issued a Flash Flood Watch
earlier in the morning, in effect for the afternoon and evening
hours.

The line of storms will roll on through this evening, ending from
west to east across the area this evening, with highest POPs
ending by midnight for most areas.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through next Tuesday)

Weak upper ridging will be developing Thursday, giving mainly dry
conditions, although isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue
to be possible. This weekend, several embedded shortwaves,
particularly Friday and Saturday nights, will move across, bringing
more scattered showers and thunderstorms. By Monday, stronger upper
ridging builds in from the West, bringing more drier conditions,
through a few showers and thunderstorms can not be ruled out.

Main hazard this weekend will be localized heavy rainfall threat.
Give the time of year there is the potential for an isolated severe
thunderstorm also.

Line of strong to severe storms developing across the Permian
Basin and South Plains will roll across West Central Texas
terminals through this afternoon and evening hours. Given the near
complete coverage, just ran thunder as the prevailing for the
window when the storms are most likely. Once the line of storms
pass, will likely revert to VFR conditions through the overnight
hours, before some at least patchy MVFR tries to work its back
northwest into the area around sunrise.
