Over the course of the day, a weak short wave trough will pass
across New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle and bring breezy
conditions to the region. For this, the High Wind Watch that was
inherited has been upgraded to a High Wind Warning beginning this
afternoon and continuing into this evening for the Guadalupe and
Delaware Mountains. Highs stay well above normal for today with much
of the region reaching into the 70s. Tonight sees lows also stay
about 10-15 degrees above normal after settling into the 40s to low
50s. A front pushes through the region late tonight and shifts winds
out of the north for Saturday. Temperatures cool a few degrees
compared to what is expected for today, but stay well above normal.

Above normal temperatures persist through the extended forecast
period. Upper-level ridging builds back in over our region on the
heels of a departing trough Saturday. Temperatures Saturday night
cool into the upper 30s to mid 40s. Upper flow becomes zonal Sunday
afternoon through Monday as the ridge gets flattened by a trough
approaching from the coast of SoCal. For both days, expect
widespread highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s (near 50 within
the Big Bend). Lowering heights aloft and a weak cold front result
in slightly cooler conditions Tuesday, with highs in the upper
60s over southeast New Mexico, 70s almost everywhere else.
Temperatures cool a few degrees more Wednesday compared to Tuesday
as the upper trough creeps closer and thickness continues to
decrease. Lift associated with the trough and another cold front
brings low (10-30%) rain chances into the forecast across the
region Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning. In the
wake of this cold front, Thursday's highs reach the 50s in the
higher elevations, 60s for most of the region, and 70s near the
Rio Grande.
