Severe drought (D2) continued through the month of May for portions of south central South Dakota including Lyman and Buffalo counties. The Kennebec COOP observer only measured 0.89 inches of moisture for the month of May, which is about an inch and a half below normal. Meanwhile the Gann Valley COOP observer recorded 1.09 inches.
