A cold front passing through the region generated high winds, with 20 weather stations recording a peak wind of 58 mph or greater. A peak wind of 66 mph was measured at the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) Road Weather Information System (RWIS) 13 miles east of Eureka, while the SDDOT RWIS near Ridgeview and the Grand River RAWS both topped out at 65 mph.
