A weak front approached the area from the north. This front was the initial focal point for convective activity to begin developing in the afternoon hours. This activity capitalized on a warm, moist, and unstable environment to produce slow moving strong thunderstorms in the Baton Rouge area. These storms produce isolated flash flooding and severe wind gusts.
