What happened

The episode as NWS IND wrote it up.

On June 29th into early July 2026, a stacked subtropical ridge built northward from the Mississippi Delta through most of North America's eastern half, with its center nearly stationary near the Tennessee Valley. Corresponding surface high pressure aligned from the Gulf coast to New England promoted light to moderate southwesterly breezes into central Indiana which maintained dewpoints usually in the 73-78 degree range and daily high temperatures in the low 90s. Resultant daily maximum heat indices were generally 100-109 degrees, with several, mainly central to southern central Indiana zones, reaching heat indices of 110-113 on June 29th and/or 30th.
