As the storms ran into very unstable air across the Rio Grande Valley, they formed into a cluster and become locally severe. Several microbursts and some hail (unknown size) were generated from the cluster, including a several-mile track between North Alamo and Donna/Weslaco, on June 12th, 2025.
The microburst resulted in isolated to scattered structural damage to roofs, traffic lights, fences, trailers, power poles, as well as trees. There were no known injuries. Two to potentially three inches of rain in the McAllen metropolitan area resulted in urban flooding for around 2 hours there.

(Tonight through Friday night) Issued at 1244 PM CDT Thu Jun 12 2025 An upper level trough will continue to move through the Southern Plains during the duration of the short term forecast period. This trough is expected to bring instability that could foster the development of showers and thunderstorms. However, the chances of rain should come to the end by the early part of tonight. Even then, the chances of rain are low (less than 30%) for Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. After this afternoon, rain-free conditions are expected to persist through the rest of the period. Allowing for temperatures to rise again. As such, the high temperatures for the short term forecast period are expected to be in the range of upper 90s to the lower triple digits. The low temperatures are expected to be mostly in the 70s with some places reaching into the lower 80s. While mostly posing a Heat Risk of mostly Moderate to Major, there are a couple of places that could see Extreme as well. There could be a few areas tomorrow that could need a Heat Advisory. With a mid-level ridge in place for the early part of the long term forecast period, rain chances are going to be rather low. However, the ridge is expected to weaken a bit allowing for rain chances to develop mostly along the coast with the afternoon seabreeze. Even then the rain chances are low to medium (30-40%). These chances of rain are expected to remain for the rest of the period. Temperatures for the long term forecast period feature highs in the range of the upper 90s to lower triple digits with low temperatures mostly in the 70s. However a few places could get into the lower 80s. The Heat Risk for Saturday is mostly in the Major, with some areas in the Moderate risk and even fewer locations in the Extreme risk. From Sunday onward, the Heat Risk does trend downward through the long term forecast period. The heat indices also generally decrease through the period as well, but they do start close to Heat Advisory levels. && .AVIATION... HallmanThe Brownsville radar (KBRO), 94 km away, was scanning. The volume nearest the first event began at 23:56 UTC.

Hidalgo County Fire Marshal reported a power pole leaning along FM 490 just west of US 281/IH-69C.
Hidalgo County Fire Marshal reported at least two large trees blown down, including on the road along FM 2825 near the intersections of Sunshine and Val Verde Road.
Just after 740 PM CDT on June 12, 2025, a strong microburst descended from a severe thunderstorm in North Alamo, near the city line with Muniz, causing damage to traffic lights, a stand alone tower, powerlines/poles, fences and trees as well as ripped off the roof of a house, flipped a trailer and dislocated a metal structure. Altogether, the damage locations were along a northwest to southeast oriented line with six of the seven surveyed locations north of Expressway 83/east of Interstate 69C (beginning near the Muniz/North Alamo city line) and the 7th spot of Expressway 83 in Donna. For most of the damage path, estimated wind speeds ranged from 75 to 85 mph.
Detailed damage along the track included:|*Partial collapse of a single family home under construction at El Dora Road near N. Tower Road in north Alama (65 mph)|*Blown roof off of a single family poorly constructed home along Roman Circle, just north of Owassa Road in Muniz (sheet metal, manufactured-style) (80 mph)|*A metal structure thrown an unknown distance from a farm, landing along Val Verde Road in north Alamo (78 mph)|*Damaged traffic lights next to a collapsed building along El Dora Road in north Donna (70 mph)|*Fifteen power poles were blown down in a row along El Dora Road near N. Val Verde Road in north Donna (80 to 85 mph)|*Downed fence and a flipped trailer along Wood Ave. in Donna (80 mph).|*Flipped trailer blown onto Val Verde road near Donna North High School, which included minor fence damage. This was also near the report of the bent free-standing tower (80 to 85 mph)
The most notable damage was to a metal stand alone tower nearby the Donna North High School, which was bent perpendicular to the tower's base and rated at 90 mph.
A NWS Employee reported metal roofing structures and a fence blown over near the intersection of Benito Ramirez and Terry Road in Edinburg, TX.
Weslaco Mid-Valley Airport (AWOS) recorded a peak wind gust of 58 mph.
Video (via Facebook) showing numerous homes and structures with minor damage in south Donna. A stop sign was reported to be blown over.
The San Antonio Express-News reported, via video reports on social media, urban flooding with water depths up to 2 feet in streets across portions of the McAllen metropolitan region during the early to mid evening. Rainfall totals ranged from 2.5 to nearly 3 inches, much which fell within 90 to 120 minutes.
Damage to vehicles was unknown, though several had water levels halfway to two-thirds the way up their tire heights.
Weslaco Emergency Management reported a residence trailer rolled over during strong winds just north of the expressway near Mile 10 and Mile 4 1/2 West with no injuries.
