Strong thunderstorms produced several observed wind gusts in excess of 50 mph. A peak wind gust of 68 mph was measured by the South Dakota Department of Transportation mesonet station 4 miles west northwest of Cresbard. Winds would be strong enough to damage several small trees on the south side of the city of Aberdeen.
