This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
After a brief break today, wind-driven snow will redevelop tonight
across the higher terrain, with a focus along the Continental Divide
and especially across the eastern San Juan Mountains. Total new snow
amounts through tonight for the eastern San Juan Mts will range from
2 to 4 inches, but moderate snow along with gusty west to southwest
winds will persist there over the weekend, prompting the issuance of
a Winter Weather Advisory. The remainder of the mountains will
likely see very light new snow amounts through tonight.
Visibility may be degraded at times due to the stronger winds across
the higher terrain, producing areas of blowing and drifting snow.
Travel may be hazardous at times, especially over Wolf Creek Pass.
Spotty elevated fire weather conditions will be possible across
Teller County this afternoon, due to low humidity levels and brisk
west to southwest winds.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday
Moderate to heavy wind driven snow will continue for Saturday and
into Sunday morning over the San Juans, with travel impacts due to
low visibility remaining possible, especially for Wolf Creek Pass.
Elsewhere for the high country, light to moderate and wind driven
snow will be possible for Saturday. Snow chances move into the
Palmer Divide Saturday night, and into the I-25 corridor by Sunday
morning. Most of the plains will see chances for periods of light
but wind driven snow on Sunday. Travel impacts may be possible,
especially for the Palmer Divide, and areas over and near the
higher terrain, due to poor visibility.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Weather conditions that meet reporting criteria for spotters will
be possible over portions of the region.
