.KEY MESSAGES...

* Isolated thunderstorms are possible across the southern Great
  Basin, eastern Sierra, and northwestern Arizona through Sunday.

* Temperatures rebound to near seasonal values over the weekend and
  next week as dry and breezy conditions return to most of the area.

.DISCUSSION...Today through Friday.
Isolated storms starting to pop up this afternoon across portions of
central Nevada and northwest Arizona. Overall, moisture has
decreased over the past 24 hours and that trend will continue
through the remainder of the weekend. Storms today will mainly be
confined to central Nevada, northwest Arizona, the Sierra, and the
higher terrain of southern Nevada, although coverage will be much
lower than the past couple of days. The reduction in moisture should
help mitigate the flash flooding concerns. Small hail and gusty
outflow winds are also possible with any storms that form.
Convection will taper off this evening with loss of heating. An
upper low digging into the Pacific Northwest will help to increase
the drier southwest flow into the region Sunday. There will still a
few isolated storms over the higher terrain, but those are expected
to be more limited to northwest Arizona, although an isolated storm
can't be ruled out of the Sierra. Much drier air along with breezy
conditions will be see areawide Monday through Wednesday. This will
start to raise fire weather concerns as humidity drops and winds
increase. At this time, there could be some areas of elevated fire
weather conditions across Nye and Lincoln counties.

Temperatures will rebound to near seasonal values next week due to
decreases in moisture and cloud cover. HeatRisk remains in the minor
to moderate categories, levels that primarily affect those who are
sensitive to heat.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...
South to southwest winds are expected to continue through the
afternoon and into the evening. Gust speeds will be between 15 and
20 kts, with directional variability between 180 and 220. Winds will
decrease, but remain southwest after sunset. Isolated storms over
the higher terrain and over northwest Arizona through sunset.
Temperatures will remain above 100 degrees through 04z. Southwest
winds expected again Sunday afternoon with speeds 10 to 15 kts and
gusts to around 20 kts. Any afternoon storms will mainly be confined
to northwest Arizona. Temperatures will be above 100 degrees from
19z to 03z and peak around 104 degrees.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona and
southeastern California...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Gusty
southerly winds continue into this evening across the Las Vegas
Valley and Colorado River Valley TAF sites, with gust speeds
generally between 15 and 20 kts. Gust speed and frequency will
decrease after sunset. KBIH will gust from the south-southeast this
afternoon, though there is a 30 percent chance of late afternoon and
early evening vicinity thunderstorms that result in erratic, gusty
winds impacting the terminal, with gust speeds between 30 and 35
kts. KDAG will gust from the west-southwest around sunset between 20
and 25 kts. No operationally significant cloud cover through the TAF
period.
