.SYNOPSIS...Today will be breezy, but winds will decrease tonight
and tomorrow. It will be dry for much of the area save for isolated
to scattered rain/snow showers over portions of central Nevada. A
warming trend is in store through the weekend as high pressure
builds into the area.

&&

.SHORT TERM...Today through Saturday night...The forecast area
will be under an ENE flow aloft through Saturday night. NV will
be located on the northern periphery of a closed low that is
undercutting a large high pressure over the Pacific NW. The closed
low is currently over far southern CA, and the low will move east
and weaken over AZ tomorrow. Rain and mountain snow showers today
will mostly be south of Highway 50 with dry conditions over
northern NV. Today will be around 5 degrees warmer than yesterday
with highs in the 40s to mid 50s, but these temperatures are still
below seasonal average due to the cool air mass associated with
the ENE flow aloft. It continues to remain breezy this morning,
but winds will gradually weaken today and tonight. The wind
advisory in effect for southeast Elko County and northern Nye
County will be allowed to expire at 5 AM. Surface observations
show winds gusting to 25-35 mph in the advisory area at this time,
so confidence is high that winds will remain below advisory
levels.

Wrap around moisture and upslope flow will continue to bring
scattered showers to Nye and White Pine Counties tonight and
Saturday. Any snow accumulations in the mountains will be very
light...less than 2 inches. Winds aloft and at the surface will
decrease on Saturday, and temperatures will warm closer to
seasonal average.

.LONG TERM...Sunday through next Thursday. The long term begins
with a blocking pattern situated over the western United States
and Canada. The elements of this pattern includes an upper level closed
low positioned over the southern Arizona region and an upper high
over the Pacific Northwest states. Latest numerical simulations
keep the isolated valley rain/snow showers and mountain snow
showers across southern White Pine and northeast Nye Counties
Sunday, while the rest of the forecast area sees dry conditions
and sunny skies. Daytime high temperatures on Sunday look to be
in the mid 50s to mid 60s with overnight lows in the low 20s to
low 30s. North to northeasterly winds in the afternoon will be
breezy with gusts between 15 and 25 mph.

The closed low is depicted to meander to the west towards
southeast California/southern Nevada/western Arizona region
by Monday. Conditions will remain mostly dry with highs inching a
degree or two higher with readings in the mid 50s to mid 60s and
lows in the 20s and 30s. By Tuesday, the upper low will work its
way a little more west, which reintroduces isolated to scattered
showers into the forecast for portions of central Nevada. Rex
block holds into Wednesday before a northern stream kicker trough
moves in and breaks down the block, and finally progresses the
pattern. The trough likely brings additional shower activity to
the region with the greatest effects across northern Nevada. Winds
remain relatively light aside from afternoon breezes through
Tuesday. Gustier winds are expected Wednesday and Thursday given
the prospect of unsettled weather. It appears there is less than
10% probability of winds exceeding advisory thresholds at this
time but this could change. Gradual warming trend continues
through the period with the potential for daytime highs near 70
degrees across much of Humboldt County and near Gabbs in northwest
Nye County by Tuesday or Wednesday. Lows will dip into the 20s and
30s.

&&

.AVIATION...VFR conditions will be the primary flight conditions
through Friday. However winds will be gusty out of the NE at 10KT
to 20KT with gusts up to 30KT possible through Friday. Upper low
to the south will bring low CIGS and a low chance of VCSH to
-SHRASN for central NV terminals KTPH and KELY. Shower chances
could low flight conditions to MVFR for brief periods Friday.
KWMC, KEKO, and KBAM look to remain dry through Friday.

KBAM is AMD NOT SKED due to communication disruption.
