Portions of Southeast Missouri reached heat indices of 105-109F on the 29th, with more widespread heat indices of 109-116F on the 30th and 31st, extending into the start of August. Dew points reached the upper 70s on the 30th and 31st. The highest heat index reached in Southeast Missouri was 116F at the Big Spring RAWS site in Carter County on the 30th. Mid to late afternoon severe thunderstorms interrupted the heat on the 30th.
