A strong low pressure system is expected to pass across the
Saint Lawrence River Valley this afternoon. The low is
anticipated to pull a strong cold front through our area this
evening with windy conditions, showers, and thunderstorms
expected. High pressure should follow for Sunday into Monday.
The next low pressure system is then expected to approach our
region with the associated warm front pushing through Tuesday,
followed by the cold front later in the mid-week.

Latest analysis places low pressure in southern Ontario with a
cold front extending southward across eastern NY, eastern PA,
and into West VA.
A developing squall line is moving quickly eastward across
eastern PA. Greatest threat remains straight line winds, with
strong winds just off the deck easily mixing down to the surface
with the storms. Earlier this afternoon winds up to 68 mph were
recorded across western and central PA. With strong veering off
the deck, the potential also exists for an isolated tornado.
Southerly winds have relaxed a bit, but expect a surge of wind
behind the front, with gusts up to 50 mph expected across much
of the area this evening. Thus, wind advisory continues until 2
AM. Otherwise, clearing and cooling rapidly tonight, with lows
dropping quickly into the 30s for most...20s in the Poconos.
There could even be a snow shower in the Poconos overnight.
High pressure builds in Sunday, though its a much colder air
mass to be sure. Not quite as cold as Thursday, but highs will
struggle to rise above 50 in most of the area. Winds will be
lower, however, with gusts mainly in the 20-30 mph range, likely
diminishing later in the day as the high moves overhead.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
High pressure will slide offshore on Sunday night. Prime
radiational cooling conditions are expected as the boundary
layer will decouple, with winds likely going calm. Skies will be
mostly clear as well. Decent potential for some Frost/Freeze
Products as the NBM 50th percentile minimum temperatures are
around freezing north of Philadelphia and between 32-38 degrees
for the PHL metro and south.
Temperatures will rapidly rebound Monday as southwesterly winds
bring warmer air to the region with temperatures expected to
warm into the mid to upper 60s which is about 5 degrees warmer
than normal. Temperatures continue to warm on Tuesday with highs
getting into the low to mid 70s. Some clouds are expected for
the early part of the week, though no precipitation is
anticipated at this time.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
The mid-week period will be marked by above average
temperatures as southerly flow continues with a warm front
passing on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. There could be a few
showers as the warm front lifts north as it looks unsettled
overall. Highs on Wednesday look to climb into the low to mid
70s.
An area of low pressure will cut through the Great Plains,
moving into the upper Midwest by Wednesday morning. This will
drop a rather strong cold front through our region. Some timing
differences exist with global guidance with the passage of the
front and potential convection out ahead of the front. GFS seems
the most progressive, having the front offshore by late
Thursday morning while the ECMWF/GEM are later on, more towards
Thursday afternoon/evening. This has resulted in a larger spread
of high temperatures for Thursday, with a 12 degree difference
between the 25th and 75th percentile around Philadelphia. Still
a long way off, but progged instability looks sufficient for
some thunderstorms, especially if the front were to come through
later. However, the highest/more favorable shear looks to be
north and west of the CWA. Will continue to monitor over the
upcoming forecast cycles. Currently have a broad area and period
of Chc PoPS to account for the uncertainty.
Following the frontal passage late next week, high pressure
will build in, with a period of below normal temperatures likely
for the end of the week and start of next weekend.

gusts have peaked and we likely are mostly sub-Gale much of the
remainder of the day. A cold front then brings strong storms
across the waters this evening, with potential for 50 kt gusts

will shift NW and again reach gale- force. This second burst is
expected to be more widespread with gusts 35-40 kts. Seas will
be building to 7-10 feet this afternoon and evening, then
gradually decline overnight.

US-422 closed in both direction between the PA-23 Bridgeport and PA 363 at Audubon exits in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County due to downed utility lines. Time estimated via radar.

A tornado developed as a line of storms moved through lower Bucks County. Several trees were uprooted and snapped on the south side of Wrightstown Township. As the tornado progressed southeast near Swamp road, additional tree damage occurred in residential areas as well as on the Bucks County Community College Campus. The |maximum estimated wind speed was associated with damage observed on the north side of Newtown where a roof facade was blown over on a portion of a strip mall building. Additional tree damage was observed in downtown Newtown. The continuous path of damage ended in the vicinity of the Newtown Cemetery.
