.SYNOPSIS...
An area of low pressure will drift to the northeast towards the
Canadian Maritimes by Sunday. Meanwhile, several surface troughs
will move across the area from the northwest over the weekend. High
pressure builds out of southeast Canada and into the northeast states
Monday through Tuesday, then shift into the Mid Atlantic Wednesday
into Thursday. There will still likely be a stalled surface boundary
west of the area for much of next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Satellite loop this afternoon showing scattered cumulus clouds over
the entire region moving south-southeastward around an upper low over
New England. Greatest concentration of clouds are across northern
New Jersey into northeastern Pennsylvania. A couple weak shortwaves
will circulate around the low, clipping the northern portion of our
region. This will generate widely scattered showers across northeastern
Pennsylvania into the norther half of New Jersey this afternoon.
With departing low pressure and high pressure trying to nudge in,
there will be a modest pressure gradient setting up. Gusts will range
into the 20-25 MPH range with a few gusts up to 30 MPH possible. Winds
diminish tonight as the gradient weakens and surface high pressure
nudges in. Skies will be mostly clear with lows in the mid to upper
50s. Areas along the coast and within the urban corridor will hover
right around 60, with low 50s in the Poconos.

For Sunday, mid-level ridging builds in as the closed low departs.
Surface high pressure will be positioned just to the west. Temperatures
will climb into the low to mid 80s with upper 70s in the higher elevations.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
A dry period in the forecast thru Monday night as high pressure from
Canada sinks southward across the Northeast and Middle Atlantic regions.
As the high arrives, an upper trough will be swinging SE through New
England. On Tue, this trough and associated weak surface front
may kick off a couple scattered showers/tstms for the NW areas.

Temperatures will above normal Mon with highs in the mid/upper
80s for most areas and cooler temps for the shore and southern
Poconos. After the front passes, readings for Tue will be some 6
to 8 degrees cooler. Dew points both days will be mostly upper
50s/low 60s, so only slightly uncomfortable conditions for most.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
For the middle and later parts of next week, the upper air pattern
returns to a blocky pattern, like earlier this month. It appears
that we will end up near the ridge as low pressure deepens slowly
across the Tenn Valley or Southeast. This could bring back some of
the drier conditions and milder temperatures that we had in late May
early June. Plenty of uncertainties, but temperatures will likely be
around normal Thu/Fri and then go above normal for next weekend.
Normals for this time of year are highs in the low/mid 80s and lows
in the low/mid 60s (lower by 8 to 10 degrees for the southern Poconos).

Rainfall will be the typical summertime scattered showers/tstms
which favor the e late afternoon/early evening periods. Chances will
be lowest Wed/Thu and favor the southern areas (mostly low chance
or slight chance). After that, a more generalized low- chance of
showers is expected as some of the models are showing the ridging
starting to weaken.

.AVIATION /19Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Today...VFR. Widely scattered showers north of a KABE to KTTN
to KBLM line. Northwest winds around 10-15 kt with gusts near
20-25 kt.

Tonight...VFR. West/Northwest winds around 5-10 kt.

Sunday...VFR. West/Northwest winds around 10 kt.

Outlook...

Monday-Monday night...VFR expected.

Tuesday/Tuesday night...Generally VFR. Small chance of showers
and thunderstorms NW which may briefly lower conditions.

Wednesday/Thursday...Generally VFR.

.MARINE...
No marine headlines are anticipated through Sunday. Winds will peak
around 10-15 kt this afternoon with gusts nearing 20 kt out of
the west/northwest. Winds turn more southerly on Sunday,
remaining around 10-15 kt. Seas will hover around 2 to 3 feet
for ocean zones and 1 to 2 feet in the Delaware Bay.

Outlook...

Sunday night-Thursday... Conditions are expected to remain below
advisory levels through the entire period, although winds will
gust around 20 knots at times.

Rip Currents...

With a medium period southeast swell and breaking wave heights
around 1 to 3 feet, there is a LOW risk for rip currents at the
Jersey Shore and Delaware Beaches through Father's Day. Winds
will be out of the south to southwest.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
A higher astronomical tide is anticipated the next few nights with
the coming New Moon tomorrow.

With tidal departures running in the half a foot range this is pushing
many of the tidal Atlantic gages close to minor flood stage. Observations
over the past two high tide cycles have suggested that the guidance
has been slightly too high so the update forecast reflects this
bias keeping forecasts slight below Coastal Flood Advisory
criteria.

Coastal flooding concerns will continue through the weekend.

            An EF-1 tornado began in West Caln Township
            near Baldwin Road where a hardwood tree was
            uprooted and found hanging on top of downed
            wires. South of here, between Baldwin Road
            and Chantry Lane, another hardwood tree was
            found snapped at its trunk. This was the
            area that the tornado reached its maximum
            width of approximately 250 yards. The
            tornado then continued eastward with tree
            and wire damage seen on North Sandy Hill
            Road near Wallace Lane where a tree and
            large limbs fell on and damaged a wooden
            fence. Continuing further east, a row of
            hardwood trees was severely damaged with
            snapped trunks on Martins Corner Road just
            north of Wagontown Road. A utility pole was
            also snapped here, but this appeared to have
            been caused by the falling trees and the
            strain introduced to the wires since the
            pole may have been weakened by age. The
            tornado then dissipated as there was no
            concentrated damage found east of Martins
            Corner Road. Additional damage separate from
            this path was noted and appeared to be
            caused by straight line winds. This includes
            tree damage in the Hidden Acres Campground
            on the northwest side of Baldwin Road.

activity is expected to dissipate early this evening.
