What happened

The episode as NWS GID wrote it up.

A storm system brought several inches of snow to extreme southern portions of south central Nebraska throughout the day on Saturday, January 21st. An upper level disturbance tracked along the Kansas and Oklahoma border during this event, which meant all of south central Nebraska was on the cold, northern side of the system. A broad area of snow developed during the early morning hours of the 21st and light to moderate snow rates continued through the entire day. Snowfall began to taper off during the evening hours. Total snowfall accumulations ranged from 2 to 4 inches across the entire area, with the heaviest amounts right along the NE/KS state line. Fortunately, wind speeds remained light with this system, so widespread blowing and drifting snow was not observed. Steady flow of dry air from the E/NE led to a relatively sharp cut-off in snow amounts with northern extent. Impacts were typical for a light storm system of this nature, such as slick roads, but the fact it occurred on a weekend likely led to more limited impacts to schools and businesses.
