.DISCUSSION...
Through Monday Night...
Upper level low is well defined on satellite this afternoon over
the far southeast corner of Montana, drifting to the east-
southeast. Wrap around precipitation continues to show up on
radar, mainly from Billing eastward. As the upper low continues to
drift eastward through this evening, organized wrap around
precipitation will diminish and dissipate overnight. Elsewhere
scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected as the
sun breaks allow for destabilization of a very moist lower levels
after the heavy precipitation of the past few days. While rainfall
rates won't be anywhere near as heavy as yesterday, or overnight
for that matter, it won't take much additional rain to cause
localized flooding in most areas. As a result will continue the
Flood Watch through tonight to allow time for soils and waterways
to accept the water that has already fallen and improve the flash
flood guidance thresholds.
Given the precipitation over the area the past few days,
anticipate fog development tonight for many if not most locations.
Locally dense fog is not out of the question especially where
heavy rainfall was received. Otherwise expect clearing skies and
diminishing winds tonight.
Weak ridging develops for Sunday and Monday over the area.
Normally this would be a drying period, but given the recent rainfall,
ground moisture, and transpiration from vegitation expect to see
isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms in at least
portions of the area Sunday afternoon/evening (west) and across
the area on Monday afternoon and evening. Under the ridge the low
level jet will be at work pulling Gulf Moisture up the plains and
into the area boosting precipitable water values back above normal
to at or above an inch. This will keep any convection wet with
locally heavy downpours likely with stronger cells. While coverage
is not widespread, if you get under one of these cells a quick
inch or more of precipitation will be possible, resulting in
additional flooding. Chambers
Tuesday through Saturday...
Active weather continues through the period as a Pacific trough
approaches the forecast area on Tuesday and remains in the area
through Thursday. Clusters had a ridge trying to build in for
Friday through Saturday.
SREF had PWAT's of an inch or more from KBIL E on Tue., so added
mention of heavy rainfall to the forecast. Also, there was
sufficient shear and CAPE E of KBIL to support possible strong
storms. The NBM 24 hour probabilities of greater than an inch of
rainfall from 12Z Tue - 12Z Wed were 9% at KBIL, 3% at KSHR and
14% at KMLS. PoPs were high on Tue., from 50-80%. Temps will be
in the 70s. Wednesday looked similar to Tuesday. PoPs will be a
little lower on Thursday, but it will still be unsettled.
High temps trend up for Friday through Saturday, reaching the low
to mid 80s across the area on Saturday. Chances for precipitation
decrease during this period with just a 20% PoP from KBIL W on
Saturday. PWAT's will be on the order of 0.75-1.00 inch from Wed.
onward for chances of heavy rainfall, and the CWASP will be in
the 50s from KBIL E for possible strong storms. Arthur

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will end by 03Z over the area.
There will be areas of mountain obscuration. Conditions will be
MVFR/IFR in thunderstorms. Patchy fog is expected overnight with
locally reduced visibilities. More showers and thunderstorms will
occur W of KBIL and over the NE Bighorns Sunday afternoon with
