A band of higher snowfall rates moved east across Kit Carson and Yuma counties during the overnight hours. Light rain ahead of the snow squall turned to snow as the band of higher snowfall rates moved through. This caused the visibility to fall to a quarter mile or less for a short time. Wind gusts ranged from 30-50 MPH in the snow squall.

Behind the snow squall, snow amounts around six inches were reported. The highest amount was eight inches near Burlington and in far southeast Yuma County.

Snow Squall. Visibility of less than a quarter mile was reported at the Burlington airport as the snow band moved through. Similar visibilities were reported at St. Francis and Goodland, KS as the snow squall moved through Cheyenne and Sherman counties in Northwest Kansas. Part of Highway 59 was closed in the Yuma area due to the low visibility in the blowing and drifting snow.
