Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

The US Drought Monitor issued a moderate drought that extended to the month of September. WSO Pago Pago recorded rainfall 7.1 inches below average for the months of June through August.

ASPA (American Samoa Power Authority) Executive Director, Wallon Young, said an employee decided to burn his trash on it's premises on the evening of September 17th. He said strong winds caused the fire to spread to an open 40 foot container. The fire department responded to put out the fire.
