Meanwhile, a dryline developed over West Texas ahead of the trough and front, and rapidly mixed east into East Texas and Southeast Oklahoma during the afternoon. Very warm and humid air quickly spread north with the strong low level southerly flow throughout the day on the 29th, resulting in moderately unstable conditions developing within a strongly sheared environment ahead of the approaching dryline and upper trough. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms were able to develop near the dryline over portions of Deep East Texas by mid to late afternoon, which resulted in instances of damaging winds which downed trees as well as large hail, before these storms moved into Western Louisiana.

West southwest flow to near zonal low aloft will continue to be the dominant weather pattern across the Southern Plains/Lower Miss Valley through the end of the week, through the upcoming weekend and into early next week. Disturbances embedded in this flow will be the catalyst for small chance pops beginning Thursday Night and continuing through Friday. These rain chances will continue given this flow aloft with greater emphasis and coverage likely being near and north of the I-20 Corridor through the forecast period.
