(This evening through Wednesday) Issued at 229 PM CDT Tue Jun 14 2022 Southerly peak wind gusts continue to decrease this afternoon. The wind advisory will be cancelled early with most wind gusts in the lower to middle 30 mph range this afternoon. Near repeat of the last few nights across the region with mostly clear skies and light to moderate southerly winds. Lows tonight will should bottom out again in the middle 70s to near 80, with the warmer lows most likely over northern/northwest portions of Oklahoma where winds will be a little stronger. We will leave mention of isolated thunderstorms out of the forecast for northwest Oklahoma, thinking that any activity will stay to their west and north. Frontal intrusion still expected across northwest into far north central Oklahoma tomorrow, with primary impact being lighter winds and an eventual shift in winds. Temperatures across extreme northern Oklahoma expected to be several degrees cooler as well behind the front. Any thunderstorms that might get going north of the front expected to stay in Kansas through tomorrow afternoon. Across the rest of the forecast area, dewpoints progd to be a few degrees higher tomorrow with temperatures near or a few degrees less hot. Thus, less than advisory levels of heat will continue. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday night through next Monday) Issued at 229 PM CDT Tue Jun 14 2022 There is a low chance for a few showers/storms behind the previously mentioned front in far northern OK Wednesday evening but the majority of the precipitation is expected to continue to remain N and NE of the fa. Other than this low chance for rain, hot and dry conditions will be the main story into next week with upper ridge dominating the region. Models show the center of the high pressure in SE U.S. shifting a bit west later this week with ridge axis building over the central U.S. Models show an upper trough could move over portions of the Plains early next week but the upper high will remain dominate influence over the fa. Hot days and warm nights are expected to continue into early next week. High temperatures are expected to continue to be in the 90s to around 100 with overnight lows in the 70s. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 601 PM CDT Tue Jun 14 2022 Gusty south winds will continue overnight and through much of the day Wednesday. A weak front will approach northwest Oklahoma late in the day Wednesday with winds diminishing some across west/northwest.
