What happened

The episode as NWS ABR wrote it up.

Hot and humid air with highs in the 90s and dewpoints around 70 degrees set up across central and eastern South Dakota during the day Friday. Morning lows both Friday and Saturday remained in the 70s for most of the area. A peak heat index value of 120 degrees was observed at weather stations in Mellette and Onaka, with over 70 weather stations in central, north central and northeast South Dakota reporting a heat index of 100 degrees or higher at some point during the day.
